Welcome StatementWelcome to Christ Church! But I have to warn you—this place is not for everyone… Now, I know that’s an odd way to say welcome. But you need to know that Christ United Methodist Church is different than many churches in Williamson County, Tennessee. In fact, we’re different than most growing churches located in suburban communities around the United States. Christ is the center of every church, but at the same time, whether they know it or not, every church has a “centering principle.” Christ Church is relationship-centered. We are a community that values relationships above all else. We encourage everyone, visitors and members alike, to be authentic—to bring their faith and their doubt, their wholeness and their wounds. We want to be “real,” and enter into real relationships with Christ, with our truest self, with one another, and with God’s hurting world, near and far. If you are looking for a pastor/staff-centered, worship/performance-centered, or program-centered church, then this place may not be for you. We also place a premium on participation. During some seasons of life, “just showing up” is all we can do. But “just showing up” is difficult to sustain at Christ Church. We simply will not let you. Our volunteer leadership team is dynamic and effective, because we continually encourage every member, new or old, to get involved and stay involved. If you want to remain anonymous, unrecognized, and uninvolved in your church, then this place may not be for you. We embrace diversity across the broadest possible spectrum. You will see people of color. You will hear people whose native language is not English, but instead, Spanish, Chinese, Thai, German, Indonesian, Vietnamese, and the like. Our membership includes wealthy folks, poor folks, and everybody in between. You will become friends with families who have adopted children of different races, ethnicities, and nationalities other than their own. Our “families” include the traditional mom, dad, and children, but we also have a quickly growing number of single adults, divorced and widowed men and women, older adults, and empty nesters. If you are looking for the uniformity of an upper-middle income, suburban congregation, then this place may not be for you. BUT…
