News & EventsVOLUNTEER TO DISCOVER FLOOD RECOVERY NEEDS: As we move into the "recovery" phase of flood relief, volunteers are needed to canvas the areas affected in our community to find out what the needs are. After a disaster, it's hard to know who needs help. Often the people that most need the help are the ones who don't know whom to ask or where to turn. Our congregation is being asked to join in the effort to canvas affected neighborhoods to learn what the needs are and to give helpful information to those needing it. Some Christ UMC volunteers have already helped with this canvasing, but there's much more left to do! On Sunday, July 11, there will be a Ministry Moment and an opportunity to sign up to help. Questions? Contact Ed Thornton.
PLEDGING ON LINE FOR A ROCK SOLID RELATIONSHIP - Turn your prayers and faith into action. Make a giving decision that honors God and that is right for you. Annual Giving Pledge, click here. Capital Campaign Pledge, click here.
CONSIDER BEING A PEN PAL - Our Christ UMC Prison Ministry has established a very positive relationship with Riverbend Prison which includes our Pen Pal ministry matching our members on the outside with church members on the inside. The inside ministry is coordinated by Joe Collins, a Christ UMC member. We need four volunteers willing to take time to write a letter on a regular basis to one inmate. All letters are sent to you using the church address. We have designed a process that allows for the dignity and safety of all pen pals. Prayerfully consider this ministry and if you are interested please call the church office.
ARE YOU CALLED TO BE A STEPHEN MINISTER? Stephen Ministers are people in our congregation who offer one-on-one care and support to others who are going through difficult times. We currently have nine trained Stephen Ministers, and we are looking for more! If you have the gifts of compassion, listening, caring and love, please consider using those gifts in Stephen Ministry. The training begins in January, meeting every Thursday evening through May. It is a big commitment for a vital and fulfilling ministry. If you are interested in being a Stephen Minister or would just like to learn more about it, contact Carol Cavin-Dillon, or contact a Stephen Leader: Steve Vining, Rachel Waterhouse, or Dave Edmunds. MUSIC WITH MAR... A children's music class is offered every Monday at the church from 10:00-10:45am. learn more>> Christ UMC is a partner with MARTIN METHODIST COLLEGE'S Cal Turner Center for Church Leadership. learn more>>
