Families

Come be a part of the family of God at Christ United Methodist Church. Our family ministry encompasses all ages and family situations.

Wednesday Night -- Family Night at Christ United Methodist Church

Join us for a full evening of food, fellowship and learning – or participate in the parts that fit your schedule.

Serving of a catered meal begins at 5:30 p.m. followed by children’s activities. Adults can choose from Bible study led by Rev. Tom Gildemeister or Adult Choir. Special short-term studies are offered throughout the year. [Make a dinner reservation]

Church-Wide Retreat

Each fall our church family spends a weekend away together at a camp. We enjoy fellowship, study, relaxing activities and a wonderful time to enjoy nature and your church friends. The retreat is for all ages. Sign-up begins in July.

Intergenerational Activities

Intergenerational activities are planned throughout the year including an Advent fair and Epiphany fair. Others program/s include:
  • Adopt-a-Grandparent Ministry: The Adopt-a-Grandparent ministry links children and youth with adults for friendship. Each year the children and adults indicate their interest in our program by signing up and suggesting whom they would like to adopt. The program begins in February. Children and adults are linked for one year. At the end of the year, participants decide whether they wish to continue in the program or make a change in the person(s) they have adopted. The Children’s Ministry team plans several special events throughout the year to promote this intergenerational program.
Support Groups for Families
  • A monthly night-out (PNO Co-op) is available with volunteers for child care rotated among the group members and spouses.
  • Men’s Dialogue meets each Wednesday morning at 6:30 a.m. for breakfast and sharing.
  • Latecomers Men's Group meets each Friday morning at 8:00 a.m. at Merridee's Breadbasket in downtown Franklin.
  • Support Group for Parents of College Students meets occasionally for fellowship and workshop events.
We care about you and your family. A parent help basket is located downstairs outside the choir room #113. Materials are available for use by families.
